Created by his parents, the Cole Williams Memorial Scholarship honors the special gifts and talents of students with learning challenges and professionals who dedicate their lives to helping children with learning challenges. Cole, a graduate of Hillcrest School in Midland, was eagerly pursuing a degree from Eastern New Mexico University, Roswell, New Mexico, when he tragically died in October 2009.
Preference is given to applicants with the following characteristics in descending order of priority:
– students graduating from Hillcrest School, Midland, Texas, or a Permian Basin high school, who are accepted to Eastern New Mexico University at Roswell, Special Services Program,
– students who have been diagnosed with a learning challenge, and are accepted to Eastern New Mexico University at Roswell, Special Services Program,
– students who are entering their junior or senior college year or are in graduate studies, and are committed to serving in the education of persons with learning challenges.
